This site now runs on WordPress — packaged as a custom theme, pixel for pixel identical to the hand-built original, with every animation and all 100 Lab exhibits intact.

Why bother? Deployment and management. WordPress means standard hosting, standard backups, an admin dashboard and a proper content pipeline — this log you are reading is powered by it.

The build is automated: one command converts the static site into the theme, so the design source of truth stays plain HTML and the WordPress version can never drift out of date.
